Full-Tuition International Scholarships
The Chancellor's International Scholarship covers full international tuition for top-ranking international students entering their first year. The President's International Scholarship also provides up to full tuition. Both are renewable for up to four years with a minimum GPA of 3.7. Additional entrance awards range from $500 to $20,000 over four years.
Fourth-Lowest International Tuition in the Region
STU's 2025–26 international BA tuition of $20,322 CAD is the fourth-lowest among 14 regional universities. The university deliberately keeps international fees competitive. Combined with Fredericton's lower cost of living compared to major Canadian cities, the total investment for an STU degree is meaningfully more affordable than at many comparable institutions.
Integrated ESL Pathway With Academic Credit
Students who do not meet direct English proficiency requirements can enter through STU's integrated ESL programme within the BA. All ESL courses carry academic credit toward the degree. Placement is determined by an individualised assessment after arrival. Students with IELTS 5.0 or equivalent can begin earning credits immediately while improving their English.

Campus Locations
New Brunswick
- Main campus: 51 Dineen Drive in Fredericton, New Brunswick. A 16-acre campus in the capital city with approximately 85,000 residents and two universities.
- Residences: Harrington Hall, Vanier Hall, and Holy Cross House offer traditional on-campus living with shared kitchens, lounges, study spaces, Wi-Fi, and mini-fridges.
- Health services: Students access the University Students Health Centre on campus with nursing staff and doctors. Full-time international students are eligible for free New Brunswick Medicare after a waiting period.
- Location: Fredericton is a safe, walkable college town described as "the ideal student city — small enough to navigate easily and safely, big enough for events and entertainment."

Entry Requirements
Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Applied Arts (BAA):
- Academic: High school graduation with a minimum 70% average on five Grade 12 academic courses including English. Subject distribution must include college or university preparatory courses. International applicants apply via the Common Application.
- English – Direct Entry (full course load): IELTS 6.5 overall. TOEFL iBT 89. TOEFL PBT 573. PTE Academic 61. Duolingo 115. CAEL 60. Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency.
- English – ESL Pathway (conditional admission): IELTS 5.0 overall. TOEFL iBT 61. TOEFL PBT 500. PTE Academic 50–61. Duolingo 90. CAEL 40–50. Cambridge B2 First. Students take credit-bearing ESL courses alongside academic courses.
Bachelor of Social Work (BSW):
- Academic: 60 credit hours in liberal arts with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, or GPA of 3.0 on the most recent 30 credit hours. Minimum grade of B in Introduction to Social Welfare and Introduction to Social Work. Evidence of commitment to structural social work required.
- English: Same undergraduate thresholds as BA.
Bachelor of Education (BEd):
- Academic: A completed undergraduate degree with sufficient background in teachable subjects. Admission is competitive and holistic, considering academic record and evidence of professional suitability including leadership and work with young people.

Student Support Services
International student services
STU partners with BorderPass to streamline the immigration process throughout students' stay in Canada. The international admissions team is reachable at international@stu.ca
Health coverage
Students access the University Students Health Centre on campus. Full-time international students are eligible for free New Brunswick Medicare after a waiting period. The Guard.Me plan covers the interim at $664 per year.
Academic support
The Registrar's Office provides course registration, transcripts, and academic advising. Writing and tutoring services are available on campus.
Integrated ESL programme
Students who enter through the ESL pathway take credit-bearing ESL courses alongside adapted academic courses. All ESL courses count toward the BA degree. Individualised placement happens after arrival.
Student life
The Students' Union fee of $197.90 per term funds student-run clubs, events, and campus activities. The Residence Life Office coordinates community programming for on-campus students.
