Why Choose University of West London?
Best in the UK for Student Experience
The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024 named UWL the best university in the country for student experience and teaching quality. That is not a self-declared claim — it is an independently assessed national ranking. The NSS 2024 backs it up, placing UWL as the number one London university for overall student satisfaction.
30th in the UK With a Career-First Approach
UWL sits 30th in the UK in the Guardian 2025 rankings, ahead of many older and larger universities. It calls itself the Career University for a reason — specialist facilities like professional hospitality kitchens, a flight simulator, London College of Music studios and a mock courtroom are built for students who want to graduate ready to work.
£200 Million Invested in the Campus
UWL has put over £200 million into its Ealing and Brentford campuses. That shows up in the Paul Hamlyn Library, modern teaching buildings, a sports centre with two gyms and specialist facilities across every school. Students get a contemporary learning environment, not a campus that has been coasting on past investment.
80% of Research is World-Leading
UWL is teaching-focused but not research-light. In the 2021 Research Excellence Framework, 80% of its research was rated as world-leading or internationally excellent. That means the people teaching you are active researchers whose work is recognised at an international level.
West London Location — 25 Minutes from Central London
Ealing and Brentford are residential west London neighbourhoods with excellent Tube access. Central London is around 25 minutes away, which means internships, employer events and industry connections in the capital are genuinely accessible during your studies. It is London living at a more manageable cost.
