Why Choose Leeds Beckett University - Ed Tech?
1. Globally top 100 for Sport and Hospitality
Leeds Beckett ranks in the QS global top 100 for Sports-Related Subjects and for Hospitality & Leisure Management in 2026. Both subjects have held that position for six consecutive years. For students choosing a sport or hospitality degree, this is a global benchmark, not just a UK one.
2. 5-star QS rating and 27th in England
Leeds Beckett holds a 5-star overall QS Stars rating across seven categories including employability and facilities. Students themselves rated it 27th out of 123 English universities in NSS 2024, with 91% satisfied with teaching. It also holds the University Mental Health Charter Award, one of a small number of UK universities with this recognition.
3. Over 90% of graduates in work or further study
HESA Graduate Outcomes 2021/22 puts Leeds Beckett above 90% for graduates in employment or further study. At course level, 100% of Sport & Exercise Nutrition graduates were in work or study 15 months after graduating. The Beckett Careers service supports graduates for five years after they leave.
4. Scholarships built around what you study
Law students receive £5,750 to £6,000 off per year automatically, with no separate application. Elite athletes in American Football, Athletics, Cricket, Football, Netball, Rugby League, Rugby Union and Tennis qualify for £6,000 a year or 50% off postgraduate fees. Arts and architecture postgraduates can apply for 22 scholarships at 50% of fees. The Dean's Scholarship gives 50% off any postgraduate degree.
5. Leeds is a major UK student city
The UK visa financial requirement for Leeds is £1,171 per month versus London's £1,529. Over three years, that gap adds up. Leeds also has a strong financial services sector, a growing tech scene, and direct employer links to Leeds United, Leeds Rhinos and major international sporting events — relevant for business, sport and hospitality graduates alike.
