Why Choose De Montfort University?
#1 in the UK for Work Experience
DMU is a national leader in professional preparation, ranking #1 in the UK for Work Experience for two consecutive years (RateMyPlacement 2024 & 2025). This practical focus ensures that 97.3% of graduates are in work or further study within six months of graduating (HESA 2017). The university also holds the highest employability ranking in the East Midlands (#17 in the UK).
Award-Winning Careers Support
The university’s "DMU Works" team was named the Best University Careers/Employability Service at the Targetjobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards 2024. Students benefit from guaranteed work experience opportunities and lifelong career coaching that continues even after graduation. DMU maintains strong industry links with major employers like Rolls-Royce, HSBC, NHS, and Jaguar Land Rover
Innovative Block Teaching Method
DMU is one of the few UK universities to offer "block teaching," where you study one module at a time rather than juggling multiple subjects. This approach results in a simpler timetable, regular assessments, and a better study-life balance. Students often report deeper learning and stronger community bonds through this focused structure.
High-Value Scholarships & Affordability
International students are eligible for the Global Access Scholarship, which automatically awards £2,000–£3,000 upon deposit payment, with an additional £500 discount for full fee payment. Combined with Leicester’s status as the #4 most affordable UK student city (NatWest 2025), DMU offers an exceptionally cost-effective education. Living costs here are approximately 30% cheaper than London.
Excellence in Subject Rankings
The Guardian University Guide 2026 highlights DMU’s strength in specialized fields, ranking Paramedic Science and Health Professions at #4 and Forensic Science at #9 in the UK. Creative courses also excel, with Fashion and Textiles ranked #16 and Interior Design #18. Additionally, 60% of DMU’s research is classified as world-leading or internationally excellent
